HealthMate Saunas- How to Choose if Tecoloy rods are right for you

This sauna is what I like if I want a harder heat. The heat is evenly distributed but is very intense. The intensity of the heat is spread out unlike having all the fluence of the heat all in one area giving it a "hot spot". The Therasauna is an example of just the opposite of the sauna. I am not saying its a good or bad thing because Therasauna is the most expensive sauna out there and the most controllable heat. Many people want to get a sauna and not just stay at 130 and maybe 140 if the door is never open. Rarely people can stay in a Healthmate at 170 degrees the same as they would a carbon sauna or even a Vital sauna.

The Healthmate is a great sauna and built really well but is not for everyone. They do make carbon saunas and much cheaper but they don't have their flagship Tecology (tm) mineral heaters. The Tecoloy heaters are the only UL Recognized infrared heaters and are patented. No other sauna company shares their heaters. They look like the rod heaters but are not rod heaters.

All the Healthmate saunas use center cut cedar wood. They broker wood with their partner company so they can afford to put this Grade A Clear cedar in all their saunas. Every sauna has the signature center wood that has the strongest cedar smell I have ever been in a sauna. It's almost as strong as Young Living and doTerra cedar oil that I use. The oils have been distilled so the wood smells the most authentic. If you get a piece of cedar at the grocery store that you grill fish on and then smell that wood versus center cut wood, you will definitely tell the difference.

Notice that the sauna has only right or left side heaters. Only their 20 amp saunas have the side heaters while the 15 amp models have 1 side heater or no heaters at all on the sides. I can sit right next to these 460 degree heaters and the heat was so even I didn't have to move one time. This is more intense over all than a Therasauna as you can stay the whole time but the Therasauna is more intense but you have to move around more and can't lay down the entire time like this.

Before and AFTER the Session

This is the 2 person Healthmate sauna but it really should be for one person. There are no heaters on the side (you can't see the front heaters). When the heaters are this close together the fluence is so high that there really isn't a need for side heaters. At 6.4 microns front and back heating me up nearly 2 inches deep, (it feels much more than that because the sauna can get to 170 degrees). The best way to describe it is the closest infrared sauna you can get to a traditional sauna. The reflective back panel reflects the far infrared so it becomes even more intense. The Healthmate had the most even heat and no hot or cold spots of all the saunas I tested.

The manufacturer gave me a case of these to give out to people to see if they like the smell of cedar. Center cut wood is super strong smelling, much more potent than the cheaper saunas that use the non center. See the picture and you will see how the center concentrates all the oil.

Note: most cedar saunas don't have this super concentrated aroma. Beware of cedar saunas from young living trees and not older matured trees that don't absorb CO2. Fresh trees are cheap and very inexpensive cedar. The old 300+ year old trees are the most expensive and the ones they use.

Healthmate does not use any flam retardants on their Tecoloy heaters and no glues. There is no offgassing unless you consider essential oils of cedar an off gas. There wood is also not cured with any formaldehydes to preserve it. The really cheap companies usually cure their wood with chemicals that off gas

Although the Healthmate doesn't give off 9.4 microns at 100 degrees like a Therasauna, it gives an average 6.3 micron range the entire session. It has a different feel so that is why I encourage people to try a session in a Therasauna and a Healthmate in their area. I can easily locate practitioners that have these. Also the Vital Sauna is always good to compare if you have never been in a carbon sauna.

The Healthmate just like the Vital and Therasauna don't click on and off and only give out far infrared 50% of the time. I do not promote saunas that have thermostats like this. These are usually the 1000 to 1500 dollar saunas that people think are just the same as these. Best analogy is being in a steam room and its off half the time and you sit there like an idiot waiting for the steam to come back on. Its awkward in the gym steam rooms. I use this time to tell stories and everyone seems to like it. I actually meet many new friends around the country this way half naked.

I get asked all the time how the Healthmate can reach 170 degrees in the sauna if the heaters only at around 460 while the Therasauna can get in the 500's. The Therasauna can get to 150 if the sauna is used in the hot summer and 140 in the winter even a below freezing room.
